19 February 2013 - Lectures on Parkinson's disease and Depression

Adrian Newman-Tancredi PhD gave a lecture on the importance of serotonergic mechanisms in Parkison's disease (PD) at the University of Lund, Sweden, on 12th December 2012. Adrian is Principal Investigator of a project, funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation, investigating the effects of novel serotonergic drugs for improved treatment of PD. The experimental work for the project is being carried out in Lund by Hanna Ideberg under the supervision of Prof. Angela Cenci, who is expert in the neuropathology of PD.

In addition, Adrian gave a lecture on 8th February 2013 to graduate students and teaching staff at the University of Utrecht, Netherlands, in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The lecture focused on recent advances in the discovery of novel drugs acting as "biased agonists" at serotonin 5-HT1A receptors - one of Adrian's ares of speciality. His contacts at Utrecht University are Prof.s Lucianne Groenink and Berend Olivier, who have extensive experience of 5-HT1A receptor pharmacology.
